Mindfulness for Menopause
Mindfulness for Menopause
Is this course for you?
Are you worried about the onset of menopausal symptoms?
Maybe you have already experienced symptoms and struggle with the physical or mental impacts of your menopause?
Perhaps you feel uncertain about the future?
This new in-person course is designed especially for women who are experiencing difficulty with menopause at any stage, and wish to explore different ways to bring acceptance and self-compassion to this transition.
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a way of relating to life experiences in a way that can be particularly helpful when things are difficult. This course will teach helpful techniques to become more in tune with what is happening in your body and your mind, including working with the breath, paying attention to the physical body, feeling more kind and understanding towards your own experience.
What will you learn on the course?
During the course you will learn more about the ways in which mindfulness may support your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing during what can be a challenging time in your life. No previous knowledge or experience is required as we will guide you through key mindfulness practices all within the shared context of menopause. We aim to create a safe space for women to connect, reflect, learn and feel empowered through various mindfulness practices. The practices will be centred around using the breath as an ally, bringing kindness to the body and cultivating self-compassion
What will a class be like?
Sometimes it is better to know what to expect!
Each week we will explore a relevant mindfulness theme through discussion, guided practise and reflection. There will be plenty opportunity to immerse yourself in the main practise of the week, with expert guidance from Annette (MSc Mindfulness Studies). Mindfulness practises are like meditations and you can find a comfortable position seated either on a chair or on a cushion or pillow on the floor. For your comfort you might like to bring along your own yoga mat, cushion or pillow and blanket, although there are some available at the Hub to use as well.
There will be opportunities for some personal reflection throughout the course so you might like to bring a notebook and pen.
And of course, we will have the chance to enjoy a cup of tea in the course of the evening too!

What previous attendees said ...
"What I’ve really gained from this course is just sharing experiences and hearing people speak about their own experiences, and I have found that very helpful, to know that you’re not alone. You know that there are other people going through it."

"I will definitely continue (my menopause) in a very different mindset, a more positive mindset, so I’m glad that I came across this so early because I think it’s helped me kind of reframe it. This is what is happening now and it’s only now, in this moment."

Mindfulness for Menopause
"I think actually being able to immerse myself in the process ... It was a commitment, but also it was just lovely. You know, that’s where the self-compassion comes in, just allowing myself to do that because I know the goodness that I can get out of it.
